HELP PLEASE!! Need restaurant in Riverdale/Wayne/Pompton Lakes area for TOMORROW
Hi All,
I have a lunch meeting tomorrow with a client (a cheap self-proclaimed restaurant expert).
Please let me know recommendations for a nice place for a busness lunch within 5 miles of Riverdale (Wayne, Pompton Lakes etc) I have been to RoseMary & Sage and a japanese place around there. I would like something upscale but I am open especially to anything new.
Thanks!
LuNello's, in Little Falls I think.

Chengdu in Cedar Grove.

While I loooove Chengdu 1 in Cedar Grove, Chengdu 23 in Wayne is closer to where the OP is looking...it's in the West Belt Mall (behind Willowbrook, on Rt 23) in the corner, next to Home Goods. Excellent, authentic Sichuan food in a nice setting for a business lunch!

Should note that both Chengdus are BYO.

Novelli's on Hamburg Turnpike is very impressive. Outstanding service, outstanding food, a little gem tucked away. About 1/2 mile from the Falls at the intersection of 202. Your client would be very impressed.

Novelli's is good, but I prefer this small BYOB list below for the food.

Stefanos on Rt 23 in Pompton Plains, next to the old Saturn dealer (corner of 23 and Jackson Ave).
I would call to make sure they are open for lunch though (973) 616-6620

Stefano's pizza is quite good, but the restaurant is less so.

Stefano's does have decent food, but I won't go there. He had a fight with an employee right out in the dining room, fired the guy, and threatened to call the police - all in front of the customers. and no apologies to any of us. just thought that was way over the top. he could have taken the guy outdoors for this.

I can't believe you mentioned the fight with the employee! I was there in late August or early September and he did the same thing to one of the staff! He actually followed the waiter outside into the parking lot. It was unbelievable. I will NEVER go to that place!

Where did you wind up, KristinG?

Ended up at Novelli's. It was good but I think it's a bit tired now. They need a refresh.
The service was excellent.
Looking forward to trying one of the other options mentioned above. I have to take this client out at least 2-3 times per year in that area.

That area is pretty much a dining wasteland. A lot of old style Italian-Americans and Irish Pubs.
If you deign to expand to 15 miles, Tabor Road Tavern, Morris Plains, is a wonderful choice. Built recently to look like a modern chalet, the atrium with loads of wood beams inside is impressive, as is the food and service.
It's a straight shot right down 287...

I live in Wayne and it is slim pickins. IMO Lu Nellos is the best here but a little over the top in pomp and circumstance. Da Vinci's is inedible. Chendu 23 VG but it may not be upscale enough.
