going for dinner tonight - any recommendations? There's not much I don't eat, although I'm not a big fan of offal/sweetbreads.

  1. This is such a hard question as the menu changes quite often. The first time I went there kangaroo was on the menu...the second time no kangaroo. If there is a duck dish I would try that. They cook the meat quite tender and in a great sauce.

I ended up going for anchovies with quinoa croquettes to start, which were good, but my companion's lentil salad was amazingly delicious, and I was jealous. Then she had a trout dish, and I had lamb (which actually came with sweetbreads, I was brave and thought I should give it a go!), and both were good but my lamb was far superior - really tender with a delicious sauce. We split a side of brussel sprouts in miso, which were yummy, and then shared the yuzu lime tart, and the hokey pokey ice cream. WE couldn't finish the desserts - it was a lot of food. Both were nice, but the Yuzu-Lime was definitely more interesting.

Service was very good - we asked for a longish break in between courses and they were perfectly on point and very nice about it. We also transferred our bill from bar to table to bar again with absolutely no problem.

Glad you had a good experience. I haven't yet been for dinner, but I absolutely am in love with their brunch. Anything they do with yuzu is tremendously good!

That was my second choice. I thought it might be a bit rich so went for the lamb instead.

I realize I'm replying too late now, but in my one (excellent) meal at Public, the mushroom ceviche was the standout dish.

Still useful as I suspect I'll be returning!
