Trader Joe's Pates

I enjoy the mushroom pate - makes a pleasant bonne bouche at cocktail time.

It was fine but nothing I would run back looking for. I got the truffle one around Christmas, it was a good brand (Three Pigs or something?) and I like the solid plastic container it came in, that is coming in handy. I had some leftover and threw it in a pot of chili, and it thickened it up nicely.

Hi.. I really enjoy the chicken liver with black truffle shavings. But then, I enjoy most things, and therefore I'm perhaps not as discriminating a palate as others here...

Got it from my mom, who still gives me 'care packages' weekly, after her weekend jaunts to TJs. I'm 50 and married, but mom still likes to send me weekly treats :-). But to answer your question, I think I've seen different varieties at TJs myself. The chicken liver/truffles version is great with a good baguette or smeared on water crackers...

Do any of you know if Trader Joes carries the pate all year round or just around the holiday season?

My TJs has chicken liver, mushroom, and salmon pates, all in the meat/deli section.

+1. Is it as good as the pate from my local artisan market? No. Is it a tasty treat I can afford a lot more often? Oh, yeah.
