BEST cheeseburger (a.k.a. happiness)

So far the best cheeseburger I have had in Halifax has been at Durty Nelly's Irish pub (I know, I was surprised too). I have yet to try "Cut" but judging by their menu description (3 types of beef to choose from?! *yay* and homemade ketchup *yay again*) I am betting it will knock my socks off. Until then...

Just curious where your favourite has come from. [I'm not talking Darrell's quality either (read: frozen beef)] ...

aaaaand Go! ... Let's hear it :)

  1. There is only one place in town I will sometimes order a cheeseburger: the Midtown. It may not meet your definition of "best", but I love it.

      Greg B:

What is the current status of the Midtown?

I inquire as I have not been back to it since the early '80's after graduating. I have read the occasional article about zoning, high rises, etc. but what is happening with it now that we are in 2011?

A stockbroker friend of mine was in Halifax on business and having heard of it from me told the person he was meeting with that that was where he wanted to have lunch. Prompted some laughing but that is where they went.

By the way, never had a cheeseburger....yes fried peps, boiled dinner on Friday night, a "steak" [?] ...but never a cheeseburger.

Bob, the Midtown as you knew it is no more. The building has been demolished and the entire block, along with the one downhill from it where the Herald was located, has been razed to make way for a new convention center.

However, the boys moved the Midtown to the adjacent block and it has relocated in the bar space at the rear of the Prince George Hotel on Grafton St, directly across the road from the Metro Center. Somehow it has retained a lot of the ambiance and is better in many ways. Better yet, the food has not changed, except for the prices of course. I actually like it better in this new location.

The Midtown burger is what I call a meatloaf burger, as I'm sure they use some breadcrumbs in the mix. But it is really, really good.

          much appreciated Greg

    2. The Chickenburger rocks the cheeseburger.

      Perfect simplicity.
