Looking for a BYOB in the Long Branch, NJ area for my Wedding Rehearsal Dinner - Need recommendations

Scotton Bride to Be Jan 10, 2011 08:00 PM

Hi All,
I'm new to this website and as my username indicates I am a bride-to-be. I am on a tight budget and am looking for a BYOB restaurant near the beach in Long Branch, NJ...ideally with beach view for my Rehearsal Dinner this coming July. I have a budget of $25 - $32. per person for the dinner and would love it to be at least 3 courses (appetizer, entree and dessert). Some cuisine options could be Italian, Contemporary American, Southern or Seafood...I would also consider a buffet style or family style option. A restaurant that is beach chic, casual chic, dressy casual would be best. Can anyone make any recommendations? Please help. Future Mrs. Scotton.

Seating for 30 may be a bit of an issue with Kitchen Witch, the dining room is on the "cozy" side. Nikos is a block away from Seven Presidents Park, which stops charging for entrance by 4 or 5pm. There is ample parking there as well as decks and boardwalk access to the beach (This would be a goof place for pics regardless of the local restaurant you choose)...

The restaurant to which Carlylecat refers is My Kitchen Witch. It is a couple of blocks from the ocean.

The restaurant has a unique charm that may be perfect for a rehearsal dinner.

Thanks fershore, I was talking about My Kitchen Witch and suggesting that before or after your dinner you can walk down to the end of Beach Road (1/4 mile) and take a right and there is a public beach entrance right between the two high rises, it would be a great spot for a group/rehearsal picture.

And fershore is correct that thr restaurant is very unique and as they are not open in the evening and you may have the run of teh place (Private Party, Yahoo!)

Just a word of caution about the public beach access. There is a staircase walkover on the sea wall on Ocean Avenue, opposite Central Road. The area between the high rises that you describe is the Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion and is not a public beach. No problem going on the beach in the off-season or in the evening, but in the summer during the day you would need a membership with parking. Weekends especially tricky.

Another couple of ideas, if you would travel just a bit: Angelica's in Sea Bright, and Bay Avenue Trattoria in Highlands.

Bay Ave Trattoria has fantastic food- just do a search of anyplace you choose on CH- you'll get a good general idea of what people think. Bay Ave is casual and fantastic!!

That's a pretty tough call. In Long Branch virtually all the restaurants close to the beach are not BYO. The only couple of exceptions I can think of now are Nikos Trapezi and Tre Amici
