Looking for recs on what to order...

Husband and I are headed down to New Orleans this weekend from DC and have dinner reservations at Emerils and Mr. B's and also Sunday brunch at Commander's Palace.

If you were headed to any of those, what would you order? I have noted recommendations from previous posts but thought I would try one more time for your can't miss menu items!

Thanks in advance.

  1. Emeril's:
app: smoked mushrooms on angelhair w/tasso cream sauce
Abita rootbeer glazed fresh bacon salad
    entree(s): andouille crusted redfish or
Niman Ranch pork chop w/ tamarind glaze and green chile mole (nothing at all like traditional mole, no chocolate)
    banana cream pie
    Note: portions are very generous

    Bloody Mary
    turtle soup or soups 1-1-1
    bread pudding souffle

    Mr. B's:
    gumbo ya ya
    bbq shrimp

FWIW, I wouldn't waste a dinner at Mr. B's. Go for lunch.

I like Mr. B's seafood gumbo also. But nothing compares to the bbq shrimp. Husband had the steak paillard on our recent trip (he refuses to peel shrimp) and it was delicious, great quality of meat seasoned and cooked perfect. I had a steak at another highly rated restaurant the night before that wasn't even half as good and was way more expensive to-boot. If they told me they were out of bbq shrimp, I'd opt for that steak in a heartbeat.
