Restaurant Week Again -is Market Restaurant worth $40?
It's that (half) time of year again! So we all know that restaurant week can be a huge pain - the food is not quite as good as a normal visit and the service almost certainly suffers - but at the same, for those diners like myself who can't afford the usual prices at some nicer places, it's a great time to try out a restaurant.
With that said, what do people think about Market Restaurant, which is at the $40 mark for this winter's Restaurant Week. Worth it? Here's the set menu: http://www.sandiegorestaurantweek.com...
Or are there other $40 places that are a better bang for the buck (and worth trying out)?
Thanks!

I went to Market last RW cycle and I thought that 40 dollars was worth it to give me a taste of what they have to offer. The food was very good, my gf had a duck confit which was very good. I had the braised short rib which was nice. The deserts were ok, not great. Overall, I liked the place but maybe would not go there other than restaurant week. If I'm going to blow a lot of cash, I'd probably go up to l.a.
As far as best bang for your buck, I though whisk n ladle was by far the best value. not set menu, the whole menu was fair game.

We went to Market for RW a couple years back and the service nor the food stumbled at all.
I generally think the Restaurant Week $40 price point is nearly useless for most people (who don't really want or need 2 apps and 2 desserts and would be better off going 50 other weeks of the year) but if it gets you to try Market or Blanca instead of a mediocre SD place than by all means...
