DC - Need recommendation for dinner and breakfast
We will be in DC overnight on a weekend. We will be staying at a hotel near the White House and
will not have a car. We are looking for a bistro-like restaurant for dinner and also good recommendations for a place for breakfast (we're happy to walk a ways to breakfast). Thank you in
advance.

I would walk up towards Dupont Circle for breakfast to Tabard Inn or Cafe Dupont.
I also agree with Bistro D'Oc and Cafe du Parc for the bistro dinner. Both delicious french food.

re: Elyssa
We had a lovely dinner at Bistro D'Oc - exactly what I had in mind. We walked up to Dupont
Circle in search of Cafe Dupont - could not find it (perhaps I wrote the address down wrong?),
but ended up having a great breakfast at Luna Grill & Diner on Conn. Ave. Breakfast on Sunday
was at Cafe du Parc, which we loved. Definitely would try that for dinner. The one disappointing meal was dinner at Filomena - huge portions of mediocre food in a large,
noisy, overdone venue. Would never return! thanks to all for your suggestions.-----

Cafe du Parc and Bistro d'Oc would both fit the bill for dinner, though "near the White House" is a big vague. Bistro d'Oc is five blocks east of the White House, so may be a bit too far. It's cozy and charming, and Cafe do Park is a bit brighter and cheerier. The benefit is that it's in the Willard, so you can enjoy a drink after dinner at the Willard's famous Round Robin bar.
