looking for dinner near lincoln center

I'm looking for a fairly reasonably priced restaurant or bar/grill near lincoln center for dinner on a friday nite before the opera. anyone out there have any suggestions?

I love Picholine, but I wouldn't call it "reasonably priced" the way I order. The super convenient choices are not necessarily the best.

One option to consider is Ed's Chowder House. Here's what I wrote about it from last night:

Went last night for the first time to Ed's Chowder House. I was surprised that it was on the second floor. I liked the decor, but overall, it was good, but not special. I did the chowder sampler (though 1 corn and 2 clam because I'm allergic to crab), and it was good, but not extraordinary. We shared scallops and salmon mains. Both were good and were plated and portioned nicely. Banana cream pie. Nothing disappointed. Nothing great. That said, the service was very quick which was perfect because we were heading to a movie at Lincoln Plaza Cinema across the street. Plus, our server was gracious and accommodating. So, all-in-all, solid, not special, but super convenient and quick. I'd go back if I need those qualities again in the future. Plus, it was a step up from Fiorello's as fas as I'm concerned, which was our other choice last night.

Another choice is you're going to opera at the Met would be to eat at the restaurant inside the opera house (The Grand Tier?). I haven't been in a long time, but it used to be good.

I stopped going to Telepan after the food and service declined a couple years ago (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7493... ). I used to like Gabriel's, but not any more.

If budget were not an issue, Porter House is a very good steakhouse with a nice view, but the prices are high, even by NYC steakhouse standards. Per Se has started offering a la carte service in the bar area which would be another option. I wasn't impressed with my one experience of the full prix fixe menu--expensive and not every interesting food, but to be able a couple dishes from the menu makes it a more affordable and less time-consuming option.

bouchon bakery is just outside per ce. it's a strange set up, in a mall, and closes at 9, but it's reasonable.

pj clarke's is more bar and grill like, with average pub food.

      more upscale, there's lincoln

Telepan is very good. You need to check prices. It should be cheaper than Picholine.
Also went to Ed's Chowder House shortly after it opened and had a good meal, but you would have to check with others as to current status as I've only gone one time.

Salumeria Rosi is a solid option. Good food, good prices. Its Italian food, small plates and meats/cheese plates.

Not sure of your budget, but Picholine's pre theater prix fixe is $58 for 3 courses.

Compass is a good option. Pricey but good food. Fatty Crab is another good option

Bar Boulud...depending on what you find "reasonably priced."
