ISO A big smoked turkey drumstick

Hounds: Could you tell me where I could find a big smoked turkey drumstick? I am thinking of making white beans today and wanted to add a drumstick that I have found previously at the county fair. I live in the valley and work in Thousand Oaks, so anywhere in between is fine. Thanks in advance.

  1. The only place I know to get this is, believe it or not, Disneyland...

that's the first thing I thought of too. California Adventure

    2. Whole Food smokes them at some of it's newer markets that have a BBQ counter. I know it's not near you but stores in El Segundo and Venice has had them. Call first.
Also some Ralph's carry them smoked pre cooked and refrigerated in the meat section, they are not cooked in the market.

      1. You may want to ask Aaron at Boneyard Bistro if he can smoke some turkey drumsticks for you as a special order since he already does smoked turkey during the holiday season. It's worth a shot.

I second Whole Foods as well... I've seen smoked turkey wings and drumsticks every so often at the Glendale location and they may be willing to prep it for you by request.

I was going to say, ask one of the BBQ places in the Valley. They may smoke up some turkey legs for you.

The church that serves BBQ has turkey legs or turkey necks, forget which, but that's not in your area.

        2. I've seen them at my local Vons at Christmastime.

          1. Sprouts in Culver City has them. Huge and really inexpensive, too-- about $2.00

            1. Many thanks to all for the rec's.

              1. Have you checked the Deli's like Mort's or Brent's?

                1. I've seen smoked turkey drumsticks the Gelson's market in Studio City, though they don't have them all the time. (They also have stores in Encino and Calabasas.)

Don't know if they have any in stock currently or not.

                  1. The meat man at the Ralphs on 3rd and LaBrea is big into the smoked meat parts for seasoning, I'm pretty sure he's Southern, so he KNOWS. Right after Turkey day he didn't even bother with his usual hamhocks etc. and went big on smoked turkey. He's a passionate guy about his section and I think a phone call could easily render a leg. Good luck!
