True bergamots grow almost entirely along the Calabria coast around the city of Reggio Calabria and up along the Ionian Sea; for some reason, they fail to thrive even just across the strait in Sicily. Almost all are sold for processing into scents, oils, and fragrances, and in a number of trips to Calabria have never seen a fresh on in commerce. I imagine there might be some somewhere in California, but not likely in commerce.

I think you mean the citrus fruit, yes? I don't think you'll have any luck - I tried a few years ago, two seasons running, without success. I finally found a grower in California who had a few, but they all went to restaurants. And, no, regrettably I don't remember who the grower was.
