Seeking Traditional Peking Duck DC Chinatown

On our way into the city for traditional Peking Duck for my 30th -- any suggestions woul be greatly appeciated!!! Thanks!!!

I live in Chinatown and there is nowhere I would order Peking Duck at. I can barely manage to find a place where I can order dumplings, soup, and hunan chicken (ended up being happiest with Wok n Roll, in the end).

I agree with the other recommendations here - and just think! You'll be able to park easily and for free! Surely that's a bonus.

Yep, the 'burbs are where it is at. You can get a good traditional Peking Duck in the Virginia 'burbs at either Peking Gourmet (reservations a necessity), or Duck Chang's.

At Peking Gourmet, your best other options are the dishes with their specially grown leeks or garlic sprouts. Peking Gourmet has a very expensive duck, but it is carved tableside with considerable expertise. Your duck meat and skin should be whisked clean of all traces of fat.

The duck at Duck Chang's is less expensive and may be carved either tableside or in the kitchen, depending upon how busy the restaurant is. The restaurant was absolutely overwhelmed when we went there on Xmas day, but is generally not overfull.

There is also Mark's Duck House and XO Taste, but Peking Gourmet has the best duck in town.

By the way, I was referring to the afore-mentioned and now-legendary Peking Gourmet in the Culmore Shopping Center and not the impostor establishment that popped into my previous post.

Good luck with that. There ought to be a disclaimer that DC's Chinatown really doesn't have much Chinese restaurants worth mentioning. The suburbs are where all the actions is at.
