Which French Restaurant near Scottsdale?
We're in NJ, but will be visiting family in Scottsdale next month. My mother-in-law loves French cuisine. I've seen recommendations for Petite Maison, Voltaire, and Sophie's Bistro here; which would be the best for us to visit? We would probably prefer to go at lunchtime, and none of us want to eat large quantities of food (so no seven-course prix fixe meals, please :-) ). (Well, we may *want* to eat large quantities of food, but health concerns preclude this.)
I won't say price is no object, but price is not a major object. As a data point for cuisine, price, and distance, we loved the French restaurant that used to be in Cave Creek.

Try Christopher’s which is upscale, bright, airy, chef owned with a lunch menu which is on their website.
Christopher Gross is one of the most talented chefs in the Phoenix area. Many times I have greatly enjoyed his simple version of salmon in a light butter lemon sauce over a bed of spinach where the flavors of each ingredient were tasteable(is that a real word, in any case) yet in perfect balance.
Even though you mentioned lunch if you go for dinner and veal cheeks is on the menu you are in store for a treat.
The restaurant also has one of the better wines by the glass list in the city, e.g. Delille Cellars D2, although the list items constantly change.
Christopher’s is 10 minutes from the Scottsdale Rd and Camelback intersection inside an outdoor shopping center.

If you're going for lunch, price won't be an issue, as all of them have lighter sandwich-and-salad menus during the lunch hour. Well, except Voltaire, they are dinner only. Of the ones you've looked at, I think your MIL would be most tickled by Petite Maison. It's a cute place with good food. My lone quibble about Petite Maison is that they seem to be missing their je ne sais quoi; it's a good restaurant that wants very much to be a great restaurant, but misses the mark by the slightest margin. A lot of my food loving friends adore the place, so it may well just be me.
I think for French in the downtown Scottsdale area, Metro Brasserie is another excellent bet. I've been for lunch before and was utterly tickled. Their quiche is wonderful.
And if the weather is good, get take-out from Scratch Pastries, and go find some space to sit around the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall (http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/parks/sco... ). It's a beautiful space with all manner of public art.
