The Sushi Bar - AKA - Dr. Sushi - 3369 Yonge St

Having missed our local Go To for years on Avenue Road, Jimmy has once again returned and opened a new Sushi restaurant on Yonge St (2-3 blocks south of Loblaws, north of Lawrence) called "The Sushi Bar".

A nice space, with familiar menu items for those of us whom used to frequent the "Dr" in days of yore.

For those of you with an affinity for Tuna/Salmon tar-tar, do not walk, but run to this place, and order (though not on the menu!) his "Tuna Tar Tar" app.

A perfect combination of Nigiri quality pieces of tuna (not that minced up crap you get elsewhere, hiding sinew and the like), tobiko, green onion, a hint of spicy sauce, and crunchy pieces of tempura - sitting on a perfectly balanced sauce.

Lately, I have been ordering 2 orders of the Tuna Tar Tar, perhaps some of his killer BBQ Eel rolls, and be completely satisfied.

If you are in the area, and are yearning for a sushi fix - look no further!

  1. Thanks for the heads up, Sadistick.

    1. Three of us had a late lunch here this afternoon, and both the service and food were lovely. We particularly liked the Avocado Salad and Soba Noodles, and of course, the party tray (45 pieces) we split. They have a canned tea called UCC Oolong, which hit the spot on this humid afternoon.

      1. Jimmy has moved now to Yonge North of Lawrence into a funky new space, but the sushi still is arguably the best cost:quality you will find.

Make sure to try the marinated Octopus/Clam 'beard' apps - great flavors/textures.

Also, though typically not a huge fan, his BC White Tuna Tataki with Yuzu Soy drizzle was fantastic!
