ISO Fantastic Bread Pudding in the St Pete/Tampa area

coloradosmom Jan 8, 2011 06:30 PM

For some strange reason, I've been craving Bread Pudding. I had a pretty good version today at Ricky P's Po Boy in St. Pete.

Does anyone else have any suggestions as to where I might find some other hidden bread pudding gems?

Cajun Cafe on the Bayou has a Whiskey Bread Pudding that has been known to cause fights when shared - everyone wants the last bite. It's big enough for at least two, and is most certainly an alcoholic dessert, but it's not hidden by any means.

I have to second the Whiskey Bread Pudding at Cajun Cafe, its so addictive that all of my relatives make a special request to go there anytime they are visiting.

I'll third Cajun Cafe, also the restaurant is a great spot, unique and fun right on the river.

The Columbia has the best bread pudding I've ever had in the area. It's a white chocolate bread pudding with Bacardi rum sauce. To. Die. For.

The Columbia's is excellent and a huge serving. La Segunda bakery makes a flan bread pudding that's good, too.

Although I always prefer to recommend the Mom 'n Pop places, Nordstrom's Cafe at International Plaza has this dessert, and it is amazing. Mind you, had it not been called "White Chocolate Bread Pudding," I wouldn't necessarily have recognized it as bread pudding. It is, however, one of the most transcendent desserts I have ever had. "Delicate" and "fluffy" are two adjectives that spring to mind (not two I'd associate with my own homemade bread pudding). Try it and tell me what you think!

I have always heard good things about the Nordstrom Cafe but have never been.
