Breakfast in Orange County

If I were to have one great breakfast in OC this weekend (staying near Laguna Hills but don't mind driving) where would I go? Will be in town for a few days, and only have one day I can really enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast. After reading a lot of posts it looks like it is between Ramos House and Break of Dawn. Opinions? How are the Bloody Mary's at each place-- that could be my deciding factor!

I don't think BoD serves alcohol? I don't recall any. The food at Ramos House has always seemed over priced to me, and if the weather if not warm you are outdoors with those vertical heat lamps only.

Break of Dawn does do alcohol, not hard. I had a mojito there once, made with soju instead per their website. They do have bloody mary's, traditional and asian.

I've been to both and think Break of Dawn is a definitely delicious and unique, cheaper to boot too.

Bloody Mary's at Ramos-to die for.

Too bad you can't go to both. You have obviously done your due diligence-both are excellent and not really comparable. I'm sure you can look at the menus online.
Break of Dawn is really all about the food and the newer, hotter spot. Ramos House has been around awhile and is located in one of the most historic districts in CA if you care to walk around after.
As I posted prior, their Bloody Mary's (soju as well) are to die for.

A friend also suggested I think about Cafe Mimosa, 3 Thirty 3 and Galley Cafe. Any thoughts on these for breakfast?

I would only go to Ramos House if I were making a day of it in San Juan. The waits can get to be a bit much and I didn't find the food all that amazing. BoD is a favorite for good reason. The food is more interesting and it is more central if you are doing anything else that day. But... no view, it is in a strip mall.

I suggested Old Vine Cafe to some friends a while back and it has become their favorite weekend breakfast spot, but it is up in Costa Mesa... Coyote Grill in South Laguna is another nice spot for breakfast. I love the eggs and enchiladas, and they have a full bar and make excellent Bloody Marys. My last tip, if you are going Sunday, is to try the brunch at Las Brisas. Order off the menu (not a buffet) and the view is very nice. I don't know what the Saturday menu is like.

ITA; the food @ Ramos House is okay but is too far a drive for what it is, Break of Dawn while a bit of a trek from north OC is always great, and OVC has an addictive dish in their buratta caprese with flash fried arugula.
