    If you can, make your way over to the Bathers Pavillion at Balmoral Beach for Sat or Sunday brunch or lunch -- you'll be glad you did. Bring your swimsuit as well. :)

    NB -- you can't make a reservation -- just show up and get your name on the list. The wait shouldn't be too bad and it well worth it.

      I would suggest you go through some of the lists in Time Out Sydney website.
      http://www.timeoutsydney.com.au/resta...

      Sydney has some wonderful asian food options;

      Cheap and authentic Thai;
      - Chat Thai at Haymarket
      - Spice I Am at Surry Hills
      - Sailors Thai Canteen at The Rocks

      Cheap Chinese
      Northern Chinese Dumpling Restaurant at Haymarket
      Golden Century at China town
      Zilver (Yum Cha) at Haymarket

      Japanese
      Magic Monkey at Surry Hills
      Umi (Sushi Train) at Haymarket (Same building as Zilver

      )

      VIetnamese
      Phamish at East Sydney

      Laksa/Malay
      Malay Chinese Take-Away on Hunter st at Martin Place
      Mamak China town (Can't miss the long long long line)

      Coffee/Brunch
      The Bunker at Darlinghurst
      Compos at Newtown
      Burke St Bakery (Best pork sausage ever)

      Bar
      Glenmore Hotel at The Rock
      Grass hopper at CBD (near the Apple store)
      Opera Bar (For the sake of the view you gotta do it)
      Gazebo Wine Garden at Elizabeth Bay
      The Winery by Gazebo at Surry Hills

      There are a couple of big chain super markets at CBD area if you're staying in the city (Woolworths at the Wynyard station and a Coles on George and King st)
      Otherwise, you can get fresh veggie and meat at China town and they even have markets on the weekends at Market City. And you're bound to have at least a Woollie or Coles in any suburb to get your own food.

        There are many great places in Sydney to eat and shop all at good prices, tip pick up a copy of the Sydney morning herald good food guide and good food shopping guides for all the best places and you can compare pricing and locality.
