Orange County Recommendations

Will be in OC this weekend. My sister and I are flying in for my dad's birthday. He lives in Ladera Ranch and we were thinking of Dana Point for lunch one day (he loves the water and checking out the boats). Dinner in San Clemente one night? Dinner in Balboa, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa or CDM for his birthday. And breakfast somewhere near Ladera Ranch-- he LOVES a good breakfast. But, we don't mind driving a bit.

My dad goes to Laguna Beach all the time, so we wanted to pick some new areas at least for lunch and dinners.

We would not want anything ethnic except Chinese food. Mostly steak/fish kind of spots. What are the hot spots in OC these days?

Any suggestions would be wonderful!
Thanks.

Well, I see you have 2 links going at once. If your dad is a boat lover, go to the Galley Cafe in Newport for breakfast. Cash-only and it's been around since at least the early 50s and not much touched since. Old-fashioned diner-style breakfasts right at the water; he can check out the boats while you wait for a table or after eating.
