Salem and vicinity: before & after Peabody Essex Museum

Looking for good meal at odd time: 4:30 today, Sat, , 12-15 $range; alcohol unnecessary, no Chinese, Thai, Indian (tired of it) Excellent bar food fine!
After the museum, (8:00 pm) a place that won't mind serving just dessert?

First time poster, and thanks. Looking forward to better eating in the western burbs of Boston.

Google the Hawthorne Inn and check out their tavern menu (not the dining room.) It's been a while since I worked on the North Shore, but I really liked their food - good burgers, soups and salads. It's a short walk from the museum.

We went to Polonia after the PEM. Newish outpost of the southie place. It's a 5 minute walk away, in the same square as Gulu Gulu and Upper Crust. Perfect comfort food for a cold night.

I second the idea of The Old Spot. Went yesterday after the PEM. Try the fried green beans with horseradish sauce - tasty!

The Old Spot is right down the road from the museum. Has good bar food.
