Hi, I'm coming to New Orleans area to visit gourmet grocery stores with good selection of oils, cheeses and specialty/gourmet items. I am most interested in smaller independents, but will view all. Thanks for any direction you can offer, keep shining...Tom

New Middle Eastern Specialty Store in Metairie (Oasis on Oaklawn) is worth taking a look at.

+1 for Nor-Joe's on Frisco, as well as the Hong Kong Market on the Westbank.

Martin's Wine Cellar in Metairie has a nice selection of gourmet items as well as a very nice deli for lunch or take it with you.

I'm a regular at Fresina's. It's a hole-in-the-wall place in a strip mall in Baton Rouge but they make their own pasta on site and carry a lot of unusual Italian items. Their balsamic vinegar is some of the best I have ever found.

Martin's Wine Cellar. Nor Joe's. Central Grocery has a lot of odd stuff. Check the expiration before buying though. Hong Kong Market. And Dorignac's seems to carry a lot of stuff other store's don't.
