Looking for really nice Italian in Toronto...

Hi All,

I want to find a really nice Italian place...in the same league as Mistura, but not Mistura.

Have looked at a few places like Zucca, Giancarlo, Noce, etc...but cannot decide. Location is not important...just want some really good, traditional Italian food for a nice night out with the wife. I want to avoid places where "regulars" get treated well, while newcomers are not.

Enoteca Sociale appears to be relative hot spot at the moment. Has anyone tried their $45 "tasting" menu?

Thanks!

I love Noce, but will say that while the service is always professional, it can be a little, hmm, "distant" ... and this was even when I lived 5 minutes away and was there at least once a month. The food is really excellent though, and as I said, the service very professional.

There are two extensive threads on exactly this subject;-

Thanks AzuklH...I did check those out, but they seemed a little dry.

Maybe we can shift gears and focus on the $45 price fix at enoteca? Anyone try it yet?

Similar to Mistura would be Noce (and just as expensive). Romagna Mia, Zucca, Il Mulino and now Carisma are all places that would be in the same idea as classic solid Italian. I would not recommend Enoteca Sociale if you are looking for something along the lines of Mistura.
