Any recs for Port Washington?

I have to take my mom out for a birthday dinner - she's thinking Louie's, Waterview, Bistro Toulouse or Chez Noelle. I have not been to these places in a long time. But my previous experience is that these spots are very over-priced and they don't deliver. Where to go with my 73 year old mom to make her happy? She won't do the places I like like Trattoria Diane's (I feel like it would be perfect but ....)
I'm stumped. I don't have a lot of confidence in the places I mentioned. AM I paranoid? What would you recommend?

  1. Why not take her to La Piccola Liguria? It is really good and special for a birthday. I went to Chez Noelle once and thought it was good but not as good as Piccola Liguria. Forget about Louie's unless she likes the atmosphere or something.

La Piccola Liguria is a really good choice. If not in the mood for Italian, try Wild Honey on Main.
Agree....forget Louie's (good for summer and sitting outside) and definitely forget Waterview (not sure its even worth it during the summer).

    2. Bistro Toulouse! Food, ambience, and service are great. My favorite in Port. (Hope it's not too late!) --Don

      1. La Piccola liguria is good, but they have more specials than they do regular food and the last time I was there they did not tellthe price. It is now a law in Nassau county that restaurants must show the price oftheir specials so all can see them. I have brought a newspaper article concerning this to a number of restaurants and none of them seem to have heard of this law. ...at least that's what they say.
