Good restaurants and bars in Banner Elk /Boone NC?
Heading to the area for the first time for a weekend of skiing and will be staying right between Boone and Banner Elk. Any recommendations for restaurants or bars? All kinds of food, from low to high. Not so much sports bars, but just about anything else goes. Thanks!
If you do a search you'll find several previous posts, such as:
In Boone, Hob Nob Farm Cafe and Vidalia are good. I don't know much about Banner Elk, but the options there are very limited....Louisiana Purchase is supposed to be good. Overall, thats not an area with lots of great food choices.

Gamekeeper & Best Cellar come to mind. Just recently had a superb dinner a Rowlands Restaurant located at West Glow Spa in Blowing Rock. True fine dining. I rate this place as one of the best restaurants I have enjoyed. Atmosphere, dinning room, service and food all impeccable.
Casual spots in Boone: If you like Thai food, Cha Da Thai is superb - great flavors, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and very gracious service. Another favorite lunch spot is Our Daily Bread for soups, sandwiches, and salads with a local twist. Hob Nob Farm is good (especially for organic and vegetarian dishes), but it will take a long time so be patient. From any of these, you can walk to galleries and antique shops on King St. We haven't ever found anything we love in Banner Elk but have heard that Louisiana Purchase is good for dinner.

Unfortunately, you are not going to find much in "the Bs" (Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk).
Zuzda: tapas, it is okay, and has a small but lively bar scene
Bella's:Italian, decent; the bar is a favorite spot for locals
Hearthstone:bar is popular, again, for locals; the food is consistently decent
Puerto Nuevo:Mexican; looks upscale, but is simple Mexican food
Melange: tiny, tiny bar; decent food
Artisanal: closed for the season I think, but incredible (sorry)
Coyote Kitchen:organic, run; I like the food here; the service is usually spotty but I expect that when I go; lots of "boats", burritos; good, although limited, beer selection; no bar
Vidalia: it has been good every time I have visited (5 or 6 times); very small bar
There are several other places in Boone, but nothing exciting in my opinion. The bar at Boone Saloon seems to be popular, but I am old and boring so it does not appeal to me
Bistro Roca: very good, decent wine list, nice bar area
Storie Street Grille: decent
Rowland's (at Westglow Spa): very good, fine dining
These are the places that quickly come to mind...several "good" places, nothing "great" (at least not in the winter when places like Artisanal and Eseeola are closed).
