Quinoa for bulgar in tabbouleh?

Hi,

I want to make tabbouleh and I couldn't find bulgar but I found quinoa.

Can I sub successfully?

How do I cook the quinoa?

Thanks!

Like CocoTO I often sub quinoa for bulgur. Tastes great! I usually have quinoa at home, unlike bulgur. I already like the extra protein boost quinoa gives the tabbouleh since it's often a main meal for me.

I love it with quinoa. I cook it 1part quinoa, 1.5 part water or stock.

The first time I made tabbouleh (this must be 30 years ago) I didn't really know what it was supposed to be made with and used cous cous. It was fine! I think quinoa would taste great.

Absolutely - I do it all the time! I find I like quinoa when it's cooked with a little less water than most cooking instructions suggest ...

You could definitely sub quinoa for bulgur, but it would be different. Still good though!

I think you can use quinoa although it would be better with bulghur. Just don't use much, maybe a quarter cup with 2-3 heads of parsley. To cook you may have to rinse first in a mesh strainer. Then just boil in water (2x the amount of water as quinoa) or stock for 10-15 minutes until it is to a texture you like.
