Pre theater dinner on a Friday night

Need dinner recs before 8pm show at the August Wilson Theater. Going to Scarpetta Saturday night, so no italian & not Bistro Moderne. Mediterranean, American, ethnic are all possibilities. Hope to stay under $150 for 2 without drinks. We usually go to matinees, so we have never dined pre theater. I am wondering how the timing would work. Also, I would like to have a nice lunch that day (any location), but it seems like it may be a lot of food with 2 meals so close together. I appreciate some help and guidance. Thanks.

I've recently starting going to Ma Peche for pre-theatre dinner. It's probably a ten minute walk to your theatre. Food is excellent (French-Vietnamese), and would work with your budget.

      Do they take reservations?

Ma Peche is primarily a "walk-in" restaurant, but they do take reservations on-line at momofuku.com.

Marseille is just down the block and would be a great choice.

We've eaten there for lunch & were hoping not to go there again if possible...any other suggestions?

Toloache is on 50th which is still relatively close. Really great Mexican (more Mex than Tex-Mex) food and interesting cocktails.
