Best Salame in Albany?

Just starting my search, but who in the greater Capital Region (from say, Hudson to Saratoga) is out there making great cured meats?

Thanks in advance.

Roma's carries a great line of artisanal salumeria, including some terrific fennel salami. Rolf's Pork Store smokes many types of sausages, but mostly German varieties. Oscar's Smoke House in Warrensburg, some way north of Albany, makes a variety of delicious smoked items, although they're more known for hams and bacons than for salume.

These products might be available elsewhere, but Putnam Market in Saratoga Springs usually carries a good line of Salumi Cured Meats made by Armandino Batali.

Cappiello's in Schenectady does a nice job.

Cappiello's is a great cheese store, but do they cure their own salame?

You might want to go around the block from Perreca's and check out Garafolo's.

I was there recently and they had a few dry sausages like Soppressata that I was told were cured in house. They were very good.

That's a good reminder. I associate them with fresh Italian sausage, not salume.
