Yasmin Grill, Richmond Hill - A good alternative to Big Joe's
I accidentally stumbled onto this relatively new Middle-Eastern eatery ( but non-Persian) yesterday evening. Took out a Lamb Shish Kebob pita sandwich, a chicken sharwarma and Falafel with Tahini. Every item was nicely seasoned and flavourful. Most impressive was the huge selection of tasty condiments they put into the sandwiches. Particularly, a diced tomatoey green pepper / onion pesto. Soooo delicious! Big Joe's on Elgin Mills and Yonge is my usual Richmond Hill go to place for Israeli / Lebonese Sharwama, Falafel and Kebobs...etc. I am glad I found this good neighbourhood alternative close by!

Hi Charles,
Is this in the Sue's Fresh Market plaza? How does it compare to Hanna's Shawarma? mr leny is always on the lookout for good shawarma places. Unfortunately, Big Joe's is a bit farther than we'd like to go for takeout.
Thanks!

Yes!
I have only been to Hannah's once and that was over 6 months ago. If my memory serves me right, my experience was only so-so. My measuring yardstick for good Shawarmas in the GTA, especially the lamb varietal, has always been Farat on Lawrence East, until they moved and subsequently gone down hill. Haven't been back over half a year!
Back to Yasmin. The pita sandwiches I had from there were very enjoyable. Although my lamb kebobs were a bit chewy. However, the chicken shawarma was flavourful and quite juicy. As I eluded to above, IMO, the stand-outs were the condiments and spreads they put inside the bread, be it the Tahini, Tzatziki, Hummus or that gorgeous, Ratatoullie like pesto.
