Floating Rock Cambridge Location - Is it EVER going to open?

Does anyone know why it is taking so long for the Cambridge Floating Rock location to open? I am starting to worry that they are going to go bankrupt prior to opening.

walked by last night and the paper was off the windows the restauarant had decorations in place and someone was placing something on a table, really really hoping this means the opening is close. Anyone want to suggest they do a soft opening by just catering a chowhound meal. Just full of people dying to support them and eat really authentic Cambodian food.

Should be open very soon. Had a tour by the owners a couple of Saturdays ago. Just waiting for final inspections. Beautiful space.

From a December 15 post on their Facebook page:

"We're hoping to be open soon, we're just having some minor issues."

Not sure what kind of issues--hopefully they're still minor!

          Thanks for the replies.

I wish we could chip in and get them the necessary money. As the restaurant stays closed, I'm thinking their money situation gets even worse.

If Christina's can ask for donations (I hope my memory is correct on that one) then why not Floating Rock?

Debidokun, you're thinking of Toscanini's. And I don't think they asked...I believe it was a customer organized effort.

Didn't the Hungry Mother folks do this, ask customers for contributions when they were in Bay Village?

I would give money to Floating Rock to help them open in a heartbeat. it not being open is breaking my heart. Perhaps of folks willing to give would post here we could direct FR here and end our drought.

I can't give much, but I would also be very happy to contribute.

Maybe Floating Rock could put one of these on their site (no joke):

I have to be careful with what I say due to the mods not liking this particular subject, but Toscanini's fund raising efforts was a little less on the up and up than what this would be.

Indeed. I don't ask my wife anymore if she wants to go to Toscanini's but whether she "wants to go get fiscally irresponsible ice cream"...

Improper Bostonian as well as some where on this board has stated the opening is being delayed by unspecified financial issues.
Hopefully they can resume work soon and open, I was dying to try them in their new location.

My office is actually right above the restaurant. They finished the build-out months ago--we could tell because the hammering and loud swearing from the contractors finally stopped. I haven't seen anyone going in or out of the restaurant since then. So either they didn't finish because they ran out of money, or something else is holding them up. I'm pretty sure they already have permits, so I don't know what it could be.
