Recos for special birthday dinner on Long Island

I am looking for a nice place to take my husband for his birthday. We live in Port Washington but I am willing to drive. We love La Piccola Liguria but I want to go someplace new and would like to find someplace with New American cuisine if possible.

Thanks, everyone. We ended up going to Lola and had a good time. We decided to just get some small plates to be able to try more things. We had the pizza tartlet with mushrooms, caeser salad, "General Tso's" sweetbreads (on special), and seared fois gras. The fois gras was excellent and I would say everything else was ok to pretty good. Service was a bit off -- our poor waitress seemed to be overloaded with tables so she wasn't coming around as quickly as she should have. But the waitstaff was very nice as was the sommelier (impressed that they even have a sommelier). We will go back and next time try some main dishes.
