Modern Dining Room?

Has anyone been since they instituted the 4-course menu? Do you have any recommendations of what you liked, didn't like? Also how much is the wine pairing with the 4-course meal?

    Don't mean to bump my own post here, but I haven't seen any recent reports about the Modern since they moved to the 4 course prix fixe....

    Has anyone been recently? Can you give me an idea of the updated experience vis-a-vis the older menu?

    Trying to decide where to take the wifers for dinner and am torn between Modern (which is one of my favorites) or SHO, which I haven't been to, but am very curious about...

    Final tossup is Corton...

      We haven't been to The Modern Dining Room since last May, and the last time we were at Corton dates back even further. However, we have been to SHO recently for the second time. The first time was more than a year ago, and I'm very pleased to report that the cuisine continues to be superb. Although the cost for the 3-course prix-fixe has risen from the original $69 to $75, imo, it's still a bargain for food of such high caliber + the many extras that the meal includes. Service was perfect, and I love the comfortable, attractive ambiance.

        Thanks RGR, it was actually your pictures of SHO from another thread that lead to my consideration of it.

        I am really interested in SHO, but knowing wife's love for the tatare at the Modern, I have a feeling i know where we are going to end up.

      I took my husband to SHO last year,and to the Modern dining room just a few weeks ago. Both were superb . The service at the Modern was unbelieveable,so professional and unobtrusive and yet alert. We were four at the table,everyone ordered something different. I had the poached lobster and thought it a littl overcooked and when I complained,they offered to replace it instantly and then took that course off the bill when I demurred. This is not to say we ate beautifully at SHO. Does your wife like van Cleef or Cartier better? :) that is a way of saying they're both at the top of the tree..
