Anthony Bourdain No Reservations Season 7 in Boston, Part Two
Just because the other one was getting so unwieldly. :-)
Any sightings?

Looks like Bourdain took some advice from Boston Chowhounds after all! Per The Feast Boston, he hit O Senhor Ramos and Belle Isle Seafood: http://bit.ly/eO8VSg
Nothing like an Azorean man o' war sub to combat a titanic Southie pub-crawl hangover! And if you're going to do the de rigueur lobster roll, how much better to have one at dumpy, homey, family-run Belle Isle than just about any more highly-touted place in town? That's a great lobster roll, and that segment ought to be very picturesque.
Praise Jeebus. There was way too much Hollywood Southie in his prior stops.

Seen on Twitter today - Bourdain will be @ The Q in Chinatown at 5:30. That's a nice surprise!

re: Eatin in Woostah
He had dinner last night at Scampo: Spaghetti with cracklings and hot peppers. I was in the restaurant tonight and the chef and co-owner was going from table to table telling customers, "He loved it!"

re: mats77
He had the corner round table at Scampo on Tuesday night. He's staying at the hotel. Sio maybe he had several meals that night. The one at Scampo wasn't for the show. The waiter and GM confirmed this.

Oh you guys, hilarious story about a server at Foundry who was let go because her iPhone didn't go off for her shift. The clincher is that she's the GF of Tony's driver. The comments on this thread are pretty awesome, including "Adults who need to be somewhere on time set multiple alarms. Adults get fired for being late. Wake up, real life is waiting." Oh how I do love the Ville. We traffic in snark.

First that horrid picture of some genteel old fart on his book cover and now this? Talk about high school girl crushes gone bad baby gone. Whether he's phoning it in, or cashing it in, I don't know but he certainly has been struck by the Mick Jagger fame bug to the dregs of hell. Time to send back my fanclub secret decoder ring, unless he pulls something hip out of his bag of tricks. As a Bostonian so far it all appears rather insulting so far.

So, during this break presumedly they're on their way to the next location? I did hear one of them say they were doing a pub crawl this afternoon...

re: JR79
Well, that one was already despoiled by Gone Baby Gone. Sounds like he's running through "Boston bars in recent Hollywood crime dramas."

re: MC Slim JB
Slim, I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole Hollywood meets "gritty" Boston theme. A shame really because most chowhounds I know have learned to find really good grub outside of the Southie made for TV spots. But as others have said, it doesn't seem he's really focused on the food so much as the vibe, artificial as it may be.

re: hiddenboston
I believe that could be the Liberty Bell in Southie, which is surprisingly not bad for a roast beef and fried seafood place; even the pizza is decent. Maybe the ugliest restaurant from the outside in Greater Boston: it looks like a concrete fallout shelter humped a shabby Tedeschi's.

re: hiddenboston
Im disapointed he is focused on Southie as out of towners often due. They see that neighborhood, which is literally 99% white, has little good food or culture, and is quite unattractive other than the parts near the water, and they think all of Boston is like that.
Im still excited for the episode, but c'mon.

re: Kinopio
The good news is he won't ruin your favorite neighborhood place with a horde of No Reservations-watching tourists.
Every episode has to have a theme: he's chosen the gritty, working-class Boston of recent Hollywood and an old crime novel he loves, "The Friends of Eddie Coyle". I think he could get outside of Southie to shoot in some other cool blue-collar neighborhoods (North Allston, parts of Dot, Eastie, etc.), hope he does.

re: hiddenboston
That experience was kind of painful. Such inane audience questions.

Spotted at Clink (presumably staying at the Liberty) and at Brasserie Jo, plus another unspecified South End sighting (I'm hopeful it was Wally's).

re: janzy
L Street was sort of despoiled by "Good Will Hunting". I wonder if Bourdain will do the same for Quencher Tavern. That is one funny little hideaway, a true hole in the wall.

re: mtm7654
I would send him to Touchie's Shamrock Pub, which is even more obscure a hole-in-the-wall than the Quencher, then Whitey's, which has the benefit of not even having a sign, and maybe Aces High.

re: MC Slim JB
Let's face it-lots of that ilk in Southie! And even though I'm not a Southie native, I'm happy to see those places surviving in the face of places like Stats and whatever is going in at the Farragut House. At least they have character. And characters no doubt.................

re: C. Hamster
Is that the joint across the street from KO Catering & Pies, back to back with My Diner? I was eyeballing that the other day, thought better of going in.
-
re: MC Slim JB
Yes. Kitty-corner fromit. It shares a wall with My Diner.
I've only been in htere once (with regulars, thank God) it's brightly lit and has picnic style tables that are bolted to the floor.
I believe that it was the bar where there was the shoot out in Gone Baby Gone.
