Restaurant Near Lincoln Center for Pre-Opera Dinner

Taking my mother-in-law to the Metropolitan Opera for her birthday on a Fri evening in Feb and would like some suggestions for a really nice, but not over-the-top ($ wise) dinner in the vicinity of the Met. Any kind of cuisine (we're adventurous) and in the $75 per person range (with a drink or reasonable glass of wine). Thanks C-hounds.

It would violate your budget but I would highly recommend Picholine. Pre Theater menu is $58 for 3 courses, the food is fantastic.

Telepan on 69th (between Columbus & CPW)
Bar Boulud on Broadway between 63/64th (across from Lincoln Center)

  Given the possibility of miserable weather, I'd go to Bar Boulud - in no way a lesser choice - because it's just across B'way.
