Need restaurant in Union County
OK here's the deal.... Future Mother in law is in town for some pre-wedding planning. Want's to go out to dinner Thursday so I figure, OK I'll take her to David Drake in Rahway but I see today he's closed up shop. Then I am like hmmm I always liked A Toute Heure in Cranford.... hey they are on winter break and closed for two weeks. Anyone have a recommendation in line with one of those? May just go into Newark and do Casa Vasca but would prefer to keep it closer to where she is staying.

for my money, simply the absolute best food in the area is Lorena's, in Maplewood.

Zagat selected it as one of the top restaurants in the whole country.
We went there, food was just amazing, truly 5 star.
I believe the entire meal for two ran about $160. I think you could go to restaurants in NYC and spend $400 and not come close to the meal we had.

I'm a fan of Casa Vasca, so would never steer you away from there ... but in Union County, I have been many times to, and like, Ristorante Da Benito (in Union). It can get expensive, but it should impress. I have not been to, but would like to try, Solar do Minho (in Roselle Park).

I've really enjoyed La Griglia in Kenilworth (on the Boulevard). Or perhaps Chez Catherine in Westfield (never been, but it gets talked about a lot on the board). I also like Teresa's in Westfield.
