What's the best Thai in Rowland Heights?

I know there are several, but which has the best food or is the best bang for the buck?

  1. Baimon probably has the best food in Rowland Heights (which really isn't saying very much - a backhanded compliment if you will).

That said, if I were going to go for Thai in Rowland Heights, my first choice would be Banana Bay. Why? Because the quality of Thai in and around Rowland Heights is so subpar, might as well go to a place that just makes you feel good -- even though the food may be sort of a bastardized version of Thai.

Banana Bay to me is a complete guilty pleasure. Cheap prices, large portions and nothing bordering on truly authentic Thai. But, you know what? It still tastes pretty darn good. It's like the reason I go to The Hat, or patronize Baskin Robbins when they have their 31¢ scoop nights. Hey, it's only 31¢ and it's still ice cream, no matter how pedestrian it might be.

I'll caveat this by saying I haven't eaten there in several years, but I worked in Rowland Heights for about 10 years, and Thai Specialty No 2 was our regular haunt. Not great, but not bad, and better than Banana Bay, IMO.

I agree with Ipse that Thai options in that area are few Thai options in that area.

      Thai Specialty No 2
1675 S Azusa Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745

      Banana Bay Restaurant
18230 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748

    2. President Thai's (off Fullerton) lunch specials aren't a bad deal. We were able to order them at dinner time as well.

      President Thai Restaurant
      498 S Rosemead Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107

President Thai is definitely quality thai food in the area. Beef panang is very good.
