I'll be near Montgomeryville Volkswagen tonight. Anyone have recommendations on good local joints? Open to just about anything.

  1. Ooka has an outlet in that area, as does Iron Hill. Down 202 a bit you have a branch of Blue Dog. Otherwise its chain city on 309. Bertucci's, Olive Garden, Pizzeria Uno...etc.

You might consider driving down Bethlehem Pike for Arpeggio, Mina Cucina, or Bacco at 202 and Welsh Road (63).

BTW 309 Goes all the Way to Quakertown.. you aren't quite on upper 309 by any stretch!

VW is up by Golden City & Yum Yum donuts. That is the area I'm looking at. Trying not to drive all the way (back home) to 202/Montgomery Mall area. Does that help any?

Well in addition to Golden City... Zoto's Diner is right be Line Lexington Road, on 309, and in the shopping center with Walmart, I have had the pasta at Mama Mia's and its ok.. family owned pizza joint.

Inn Flight bar and restaurant is up that way. Have had ok meals over the years.

You still really aren't that far Blue Dog if you go down the road that the Colmar train station is on, turn onto County Line. Its in the shopping Center with Genuardis, along with a Chinese Restaurant and a Chee Burger Chee Burger.

CW, unfortunately I saw this too late. We ended up trying Genaro's steak & seafood house - in the old Bennigan's building. Mistake. Not terrible, just a completely unremarkable meal. I had the tilapia which smelled a little too fishy and had no taste. Hubby had the alaskan king crab legs and thought they were so-so. Would have been better off at his favorite local steak place, Outback.

That place used to be a Bennigan's. I actually was trying to remember the name of it to warn you against it! Sorry you go suckered in. Guess they stay in business because they are right next to a motel. That Hatfield Colmar area is kind of a no man's land between the area around five points, and all the way up to Quakertown. Not much going on there.

Thank goodness for Yum yum! I've heard good things about Goomba's and keep meaning to try it. Was that you at Cross Culture on NYE cwdonald? Thought I spied a merry group of hounds when I was there with two friends.

Hi carbs, no I actually haven't eaten at the Doylestown Cross Culture location. I tend to eat Indian over in KoP near where my office is, and there are more choices. I have been meaning to try it. Wish their prices were a bit lower, and I would definitely get take out from them!

Washington House followed by sellersville theater! I do like Golden City. Yum Yum are great! Sushi- Cho Cho San the best fancy rolls around bar none!

Oh I wish I wsould have seen this post sooner, I would have recommended Vietnam Cafe in Telford! Love it there, very authentic and inexpensive.

Sorry you ended up at Gimaros, I went there once and only once, it was one of the worst dining experiences I ever had. The funny thing is that when I tried to post about my experiences here a number of posters, who have never posted here before, came out of the woodwork giving it rave reviews. Very fishy, that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I took my mom and aunt to Gimaro's for a birthday dinner and was EMBARRASSED at the fact the place was so bad...Also bad is that "new-ish" place where the Pub II used to be the Stadium something or other and the old Colmar Inn, (been so many different things, I want to call it Trax, but I think that's in Ambler) each one of those places were one and done for my husband and me.
BTW, Love Cheeburger Cheeburger! Close as I've had to my "perfect" burger at Dilly's Corner over near New Hope!
Inn Flight's food is always decent, nothing gourmet but they do have a good crab cake!
Sadly that is "no man's Land" unless you want to go a little higher end and have dinner at Century House... (still a old favorite, food's always good and they have a GREAT filet mignon!)
