Marble coated cookware?!?!?

My wife's aunt just gave us a Korean marble coated fry pan that is supposedly non-stick and non-cancerous. Anybody use these? Are they any good?

You can find many "Mable Coat" frying pans at grocery stores here in Japan. They tend to be quite inexpensive. They are not actually coated with marble, and I don't think they are ceramic-coated either. Translation of the description of the coating for a frying pan listed at Amazon Japan says "fluorine resin paint film processing", which is the same phrase used to describe a Teflon coating. I figure that "Marble Coat" is just another brand name for a typical PTFE nonstick coating, like "Silverstone" or "Excalibur".

      Marble-coated?

Good luck using vinegar, or lemon juice, or tomatoes, or almost any food (since most are slightly acidic) it in!

Love how a brand-new technology can be touted as non-cancerous but established ones with no link to cancer are considered "dangerous."

These are used widely in Asia (Taiwan and Korea). They're actually really good non-stick pan. I have a pan which I use similar to teflon pan (medium heat and hand washed) I believe it's similar if not the same process as ceramic coated pan. Here is a blog post that I found which doesn't have any marketing tied to it:

It is likely ceramic. I have a ceramic pan and it is excellent.

I found this discussion on it:
              http://www.foodieforums.com/vbulletin/archive/index.php?t-7629.html

Other than that.. lots of Korean sites but none I saw that stated what it actually is.

Though I did find this one that makes pots out of soapstone:

Not much about it on the web... if you are that concerned about cookware giving you cancer, you probably ought to see what you can find about the specifics of the coating process. Its not like they carved a pan out of a chunk of marble.

Are you more concerned about the non-stickiness or the cancer?

Actually I am not worried about either, I just never heard of a marble coated pan before.
