re: AnonymousWaitress
While I have been to neither, good friends, who are more "steakhouse oriented," than I am, had experiences at both, similar to yours. Their reviews of BLT were only slightly better.
Though an avowed carnivore, I seem to prefer a chef-driven restaurant, that might also serve steaks, to the steakhouse experience. Guess that I am a guest at too many around the country, so get my fill. I can only recall having made one reservation at a steakhouse in the last three years, and that was only because we were at a Ritz-Carlton in CA, and it was their "signature restaurant." So, I am the last person to ask for steakhouse recs., but am only passing on the comments of those, who know their steakhouses, and frequent them Coast to Coast.

J and G is not that great cool vibe and nice view but that is what you are paying for- Bourbon gets decent reviews on the forum but i have never been there to compare the two
Based on several underwhelming visits to J and G i would recommend taking a chance someplace other than there
