Bereket 2 now open in Black Rock

  • 4

The much awaited Bereket 2 has opened in Black Rock. After dining there twice in the past week, I can assure you that the food is as good as - in fact better than - what we have come to know and love from the beloved Turkish restaurant's original location. They have applied for a liquor license and at the moment are BYOB. Sigara Borek are unspeakably good hot from the oven, and the manti are tangy and wonderful.

  1. Just wanted to point out - in case it hadn't been elsewhere - that "Bereket 2", as it's been dubbed, is, in fact, the original Bereket moved to a new location, not a 2nd location. The owner, Selahattin, sold the Bereket at 4031 Main Ave to new owners. I went there (4031 Main Ave Bereket) last night and it was OK, but not the same as when Selahattin was running things. I went to Selahattin's new restaurant at 2871 Fairfield Ave today and it was great. Finally an attractive, comfortable place to go along with fabulous food. And a belly dancer on Saturdays apparently!

Although I have to give the nod to the new restaurant, I've got to give kudos to the old Bereket (4071 Main Ave) for it's "milk pudding"...it's a cross between a flan, rice pudding, and creme brule. Absolutely SUPERB.

    1. what the heck is the phone number??? i cant find it anywhere!

      1. Went on the opening weekend, they were all out of sorts, with one menu for the entire restaurant and did not take credit cards at that point in time (even though I called and they stated they do!). They even forgot to turn the heat on! It was, no joke, 64 degrees in there, and very drafty. BUT the food was very good.

Went again a couple weeks ago, and they got the whole "owning a legit restaurant, not a gas station with a picnic table under a tarp" deal together. It was VERY good. And warm this time! I heard they have belly dancing on Saturdays too!! Might have to make it out there for that one of these weekends.
