Simple, inexpensive recipes for novice cooks

masha Jan 2, 2011 12:55 PM

This recent article by Mark Bittman from the New York Times, and the 3 recipes that are linked to it should be of interest to the many posters who, from time to time, inquire about recipe basics -- especially students or other new cooks who are looking for relatively inexpensive meals that they can cook from scratch using pantry staples. The recipe notes are terrific in suggesting variations that you can use to change the flavor profiles. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/02/wee...

I love Bittman's cookbooks and his blog. I have to try the lentil recipe, I don't cook with grains or beans nearly enough.
