Fresh Octopus

Where can I buy fresh octopus in the DC area? Had griled octopus salad at RIS tonight, and it was really good!

  1. Whole Foods, sometimes has octopus. Or you could try some of the Asian grocery chains like Lotte that have been popping up in the area (at least in Fairfax).

    1. You can also try the fish markets down on Maine Ave - And in addition to the Asian markets (H-Mart) you can look at Bestway Latin markets.

definitely h-mart or another asian market.

      2. The answer for where to buy the best seafood in the DC area always begins with BlackSalt. Unbeatable quality, and the employees are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

Call them. If they don't have it in, they'll tell you whether or not they can get it.

If they *can't* get it, I'd question the quality of the stuff from anyone else locally who says they can...

You can also check the Jessup fish market were main local resturants get their seafood

Not everyone in the Jessup seafood market sells to the public. That said, I was at Frank's Seafood in the Jessup seafood market this past weekend (they do sell to the public) and it looked like they had octopus there. I would not bet a paycheck that's what it was - call first.
