    1. Bravo TP glad to see you carry the torch!

I had heard the peeps from Sardinia were going to open something the Big Fish space, is that them?

City Hall is due to open soon on Biscayne and 20th Street.

Symcha's is getting very close to opening across the street from Joe's Stone Crabs in SOBE.

City Hall has its menu up on the website. http://www.cityhalltherestaurant.com/...

        Looks interesting.

      2. I suppose the Jose Andres / Bazaar project for the SLS (Ritz Plaza) on South Beach still qualifies. Reports around the middle of 2010 said construction was supposed to begin January (2011).

Frod, I get the sense that it might find itself on the "New, coming to Miami in 2012" thread as well. And maybe 2013 at the rate it's going.

        2. Basque restaurant on Biscayne around 52nd (old Canela spot) is now Food Zone Latin Food Spot. Not sure it that's an upgrade.

I heard Morimoto was opening in the St. Regis Bal Harbour but I've been unable to confirm that. His name may have been associated early on with Starr's new spot at Bal Harbour shops (Makoto) which may be causing the confusion. Anyone have any info on this?

Looks like Jean-Georges is coming though

Rents being what they are in that building, no way you can open an independent restaurant of that size and survive. That being said, Shake Shack is really good.

                                    2. Also, a Miller's Ale House going into Coral Gables on Miracle Mile, block east of Ponce (used to be a Burger King there a long time ago, more recently a short-lived Nexxt Cafe).

Miller's Ale House, with its noisy TV's blaring, may not be a step up from Burger King.

Milos is a spectacular restaurant in Manhattan. More than a bit surprised to hear they are coming to SoFi in SoBe. I would be very surprised if it lasts long here. That's a real restaurant with a business following, a professional crowd, and super high end fish. Maybe I'll be proven wrong. But that's happy news. In the space where Au Pied Cochon was?

                                          1. re: YonaShyml

It's only happy news if it is good.

The original is in montreal btw. This gives them an advantage of name recognition from two major tourist cities to Miami.

Pubbelly is right next door, they're going to open a second restaurant 2 doors down?

                                                  1. re: Frodnesor

There may be something to this. I talked to one of the owners of pubbelly a few weeks ago about the place and they hinted but did not confirm it was them....It was too flimsy to post at the time. Don't take this as any type of confirmation though, they were very vague with me.

Opening a new restaurant two doors down after a few months of success? I'd say they're "pulling an Eismann."

I Love Pizza has the best expresso I've ever tasted anywhere! Unreal color "espuma" and an even better taste. The blue eyed black dude says it's a Colombian bean roasted in Australia....unbeleivably tasty! Their pizza looked promising, but I didn't get a chance to try it. Try that coffee and lmk what you think.

That area is now like a mini epcot of the Americas! You got a Cuban next to a Brazilian next to a Mexican next to a Colombian across the street from a Uruguayan next to another Colombian which is catty corner to a Peruvian which is next to an Argentinian...no passport required in North Beach!

                                                2. Went to a preview of Andalus last night. New Spanish tapas spot in the DD where Pacific Time used to be...or still kinda is. I say this because the decor hasn't changed at all really. That's about my only gripe. The food was fantastic. I had a squid ink risotto with shrimp that could be the best squid ink anything I've ever had. Just a fantastic dish. Looking forward to going back a few more times to try other things. The menu is strong and priced very well. Move over Sra M!

It's in the former Fatburger spot on Miracle Mile, and they've not apparently done too much with it other than to put up a bunch of posters of 1970s and 1980s rock-n-roll album covers on the walls. Menu is more expansive though - in addition to a regular hamburger (with a few different topping options), they've got a turkey burger, ahi tuna, greek lamb-burger, a house-made veggie burger, and a lobster roll.

Don't know if you can take BB's review seriously as truffles pretty much taste like dirt and foie gras has a super strong flavor and putting them on a burger is a waste of both a burger and a truffle and a goose liver. Plus don't think anyone that takes truffles and foie gras seriously would eat them on a burger. Think BB should stick to more basic fare in these matters.

As for Flip, I don't remember it being any worse than the burger places we already have. I do remember the Smores milkshake with burnt marshmallows was pretty good. And it was clean.

I do applaud BB for putting in the effort;however, this particular review, with the truffle and foie gras comments, did make him sound a little out of his element.

Sure, it's better received on a steak but the flavor elements are pretty similar. I went to Flip and thought it was just OK. I didnt get all the hype surrounding it really.
