Where can I buy a whole duck in DC?

I don't particularly care if it's frozen or fresh, but I'm having trouble finding one. Ideally, I'd like to stay in the DC/NOVA area.

One of the vendors at the 14th & U market carries them. That market is closed for the winter, but he does monthly winter deliveries. The farm is called Pecan Meadow. You might try some of the year-round markets like Dupont.

I buy D'Artagnan ducks at Wegmans. They are great.

Wegmans, H-mart, Most Giants, Safeways, Whole Food, and Amish Markets. I brought one for Thanksgiving from my local Safeway

I tend to go for the D'Artagnan ducks. They cost more, but they never let me down. I've been disappointed too many times by other ducks. I don't know if they're locally available other than at Wegman's, but if you can find them they're the ones to buy.

At this time, you should have no problem finding duck. Safeway and Giant even carry them during the holiday season. The Annapolis Whole Foods carries them year round so I would suspect you should find it as well in your local Whole Foods. Just place a call before you go.

I'm very surprised that you're having so much trouble finding duck. Around here (Culpeper, VA), every single supermarket carries them frozen, & sometimes even fresh. Currently - as in just this past week - I've seen them at Walmart, Giant, Martins, Safeway, Wegmans, & Harris Teeter. And they're not just a seasonal item - all of the above-mentioned markets have them year-round.
