LA to SLC
We are driving from LA to Salt Lake to enjoy the fresh powder of Little Cottonwood Canyon (Snowbird/Alta). Would love to enjoy some wonderful dining along the way and when we get there . . . . preferences are original cooking, moderately priced/not planning to dress up, and no Mexican. Any don't miss places in Cedar City? in Sandy? in SLC? in the Canyon? Thank you so much. We can't wait to return to beautiful Utah.
If you are feeling burger-y you could do much worse than Smashburger. Several locations around town, including 12300 S in Draper, just a few blocks off I-15.. Having moved to SLC from SoCal I was thrilled when In And Out opened up here, but Smashburger has replaced InO as my fave quick serve burger. Plenty of variety on the menu, really great tasting stuff!
Szechuan Garden @ 8600 S and 1300 E is perhaps the finest Chinese in the area... easily the equal of Yang Chow in LA. Highly awarded chef with plenty of things on the menu that you will not find just anywhere.
No decent eats in LCC to speak of, but near the base of the canyon is a commercial area with a Cafe Zupas. Local chain serving upscale salads, soups and sandwiches. Quick, affordable quality.

If you are planning to have lunch either going to/from SLC you might want to consider stopping at Bachi Burger in Las Vegas. It's not far off of the freeway and gets rave reviews on the Las Vegas CH Board. Address is: 470 E Windmill Lane #100. Take the Blue Diamond Rd Exit off of I-15 go East about 1 mile and it is on the South side of the road.
Here's a link for a recent Review Journal article on Bachi.
