Steak Frites Emergency

Oh no! Our beloved Le Paradis is closed for the holiday, and we desperately need a place where we can sit at the bar and order Steak Frites and a bottle of wine.

Any ideas? I haven't been to Le Select in a while, but the latest reviews have been quite mixed.

    my steak frites at le select a couple of months ago was unforgivably underseasoned. just an anecdotal heads-up.

      Both these places use a meatier, beefier sirloin cut:

      Table 17: plated with great shoestring frites and aoili.

      Melanies Bistro: no frites but served with perfectly executed potato and veg. My favorite steak.

        Steak Frites, Yonge/Lawrence is excellent IMO. Have been many times.;

          I'm a Le Select fan but that would be my first choice. Sidecar might be another option.

            These all sound good - I'm leaning towards Weezie's or Le Select. In the interest of being able to walk, rather than drive, someone suggested Le Papillon on the Park. So I'll leave it up to the birthday boy. Thanks

            For $20, the steak frites prix fixe at Le Select is a bargoon.

              Simple and Coquine are good suggestions. I'm fine with Le Select but another alternative in that zone is Jule's on Spadina.

                There's Steak Frites at Yonge and Lawrence or Coquine at Yonge and Manor. Coquine has a great bar to sit at, I don't know if Steak Frites has a bar.

                Weezie's has a great steak frites and a small, cozy bar.

                  I had a good Steak Frites at Simple Bistro last night. But it is at Mt Pleasant and Eglinton, hopefully not too far away for you.
