where to eat sunday dinner on the way back to NOLA?
my friend and i are heading to henderson on sunday to check out whiskey river, and i am toying w/ the idea of going to hawk's for crawfish. only thing is, it's almost an hour drive heading in the opposite direction! anyone have other recs for a truly cajun dining experience?? btw, ive been wanting to go to hawk's for YEARS! thanks for any info
There are a couple places in Henderson on Levee Road that serve crawfish - Pat's and another place that I can't remember the name of, something Landing I think. I've eaten at both (not crawfish though) and, in my opinion, neither is outstanding but they're probably both more "truly Cajun" than anyplace you'd find good crawfish at in the other direction, i.e. towards Baton Rouge.
There are several places to get crawfish in Breaux Bridge. That's probably your best bet if you don't want to go all the way to Rayne.
However, I kind of think that if you've wanted to go to Hawk's for years, just go there. Especially if you or your friend are into frogs.
Get Off I 10 at Exit 109 and go N on Highway 328 which is Anse Broussard Highway also to Poche Bridge Road. Go N to Main Highway and Poche Market and Restaurant for good Cajun cuisine for lunch. This is a buffet so you might really like it if you are in a hurry. Poche's has boudin.
Poche's Market and Restaurant @ 3015 Main Hwy., Breaux Bridge, LA. 337 - 332 - 2108.
Pat's, Whiskey Landing and Robin's have good cajun food. Robin's is famous for crawfish.
Pat's Fisherman's Wharf @ 1008 Henderson Levee Road, Henderson, LA 337 - 228 - 7512.
Whiskey River Landing @ 1365 Henderson Levee Road, Breaux Bridge, LA 337 - 228 - 2277.
Robin's Restaurant @ 1409 Henderson Hwy., Henderson, LA 337 - 228 - 7594.
