The Dive Bar West Haven

The Dive Bar is a tiny bar and grill in a strip mall facing Long Island Sound in West Haven. It's next to the old Oyster River Tavern that has been closed for a couple of years. I have been there a couple of times for beers and once had thier Buffalo wings which were excellent. The menu looked good so last week I took my wife there for lunch. I had the Hawaiian burger and my wife had the grilled chicken panini and we shared a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was an inch or more thick and cooked perfectly with bacon and grilled pineapple. I've had a lot of burgers and this was one of the best. The chicken panini was just as good. Even the sweet potato fries were perfect. They have a lot of different craft beers on tap that they rotate often and a nice view of the sound. The bar is pretty small, only about 6 tables and fills up quickly. They also have fried pickles.

  1. Indeed a welcome addition. They could serve the beers a little less frozen though...but overall a good rotating selection for sure.

Two words about the food. Conch fritters! A must. They are to die for.
