Food near Liacouras Center?

cook262 Dec 28, 2010 10:56 AM

We are taking our college-aged daughters to go see Cirque de Soleil at the Liacouras Center at Temple this week. Wondering if there is a good restaurant within walking distance from there. Thoughts?

Are you going to a daytime or evening performance?

There is not much non-fast-food around Temple, but you might try the Draught Horse Pub on Cecil B. Moore. I guess it is still open. Decent burgers, etc. better than Wendy's.

You could consider relaxing your walking requirement, and instead go to either Osteria or Modo Mio for an early dinner, and park near the restaurant and cab it to the performance. A 5 or 530 reservation at Osteria, a few small pizzas and salads, wouldnt break the bank and the kids would enjoy it.

you wont find much within walking distance- youll have a lot more options if you have access to a car or are willing to cab it. osteria is probably a 5min ride on broad st (closer to spring garden)

another you'd have to drive option is Sazon at 10th and Spring Garden (BYO)

When classes are in session, there are a lot of good on-campus food trucks, many of which stay open through dinner hours.
This time of year, campus can be kinda ghostlike, though. If it's doable, I'd eat in another part of town - easiest options being something right along the Broad St. Line.
Osteria is relatively close, but only barely walkable - probably around a mile each way - and, while I think that people overreact about the dangers of the neighborhood, it's not what I'd call a *nice* walk.

Liacouras Ctr is right by a Broad Street Line stop - and it's a straight shot down to Spring Garden.
