New Years Eve - Italian near the Intercontinental Toronto on Front?

  • 4

Hey All

I'm looking for an italian restaurant near the Intercontinental Hotel Toronto Centre on Front for New Year's Eve.
Want something nice, not super fancy but still fitting for the occasion.
Just myself and a friend.
Buca and Tutti Matti are both closed...

Please help!
Thanks

  1. Quite a few Italian restaurants have availability NYE, if you check www.opentable.com .

table for 2 downtown on NYE, king e, king w, queen w, little italy, yorkville:
    http://www.opentable.com/opentables.a...

The following restaurants are open NYE, and are within a 15 minute cab ride of your hotel:

If you like a traditional. rich Northern Italian food, Romagna Mia on Front Street is about a 7 minute cab ride/ 17-20 minute walk east of your hotel.

Paese on King W is 10-12 minute walk (5 minute cab ride) northwest of your hotel.

Vagabondo on Wellington is an Italian restaurant that's probably a 12-15 minute walk east of your hotel, and they have availability.

Malena (sort of contemporary Med with Greek and Italian influences and ingredients), L'Unita and Ceno are near Avenue Road & Davenport, roughly a 12-15 minute cab ride north your hotel.

Oro on Elm Street (5-7 minute cab ride), One and Il Posto in Yorkville (12-15 minute cab ride) have availabilty, but I haven't dined at any of them lately.Annona in the Park Hyatt in Yorkville also has a couple seatings left as I write, as does Bellini's. Oro, One, Annona, Bellini's and Il Posto are on the expensive side for Toronto.

Most of the Italian restos on College Street (Little Italy- roughly a 15 minute cab ride from your hotel) also have NYE menus (such as La Forchetta which you can book through opentable, which I've never tried). College Street Bar in Little Italy is open NYE, http://www.collegestreetbar.com/ Bar Italia (also in Little Italy) is open on NYE. Bar Italia $45 NYE menu http://www.bar-italia.ca/menu?menu_id...
Coco Lezzone (in Little Italy) $85 NYE menu http://www.cocolezzone.com/menunye.html

I haven't eaten at College Street Bar or Bar Italia in years, so I don't know how the food has been lately.

Further afield, Enoteca Sociale on Dundas West has an interesting NYE menu (but it costs $165, including gratuities). It's on my list of places I'd like to try soon. Probably closer to a 20 minute cab ride west of your hotel. http://www.sociale.ca/menu

I'd recommend L'Unita, Malena, Paese or Romagna Mia over most restaurants in Little Italy.

I second Romagnia Mia. Probably your closest and most authentic choice. Incredible Truffle Parm Risotto. Award Winning and superb. Home made pasta's too. All round good choice.

    2. Buca's not closed on NYE according to their twitter...

      1. Try calling Il Fornello in Queens Quay Terminal. It is a short walk from your hotel.
