Any recommendations for SOHO area?
I will be in the city for one night and will be staying in SOHO. Any recommendations for me and my friend.
There are tons of great restaurants in this neighborhood!
We'll need more details to help narrow it down. How soon will you be dining? Tonight? Tomorrow? Are you looking to make a reservation or just walk in and grab a table?
What's the most you're willing to spend per person, including tax (nearly 9%), tip (15-20%), and wine/drinks/etc.? Please specify dollar amounts, as terms like moderate or expensive mean different things to different people. $20 per person before tax, tip, drinks? $50 per person?
Any favorite cuisines you have? Cuisines you want to try? Or avoid?
Where are you traveling from? For example, it might not be best to recommend a BBQ joint to a Southerner, but you might want something that's harder to get at home.
Corton is Tribeca and R&D is more Lower East Side, technically speaking.
I don't really eat takeout a lot in Soho/Nolita/etc., usually stick to dining in at places like Balthazar, Boqueria, Blue Ribbon, Public, Peasant, etc. Or having drinks at Pegu Club and Lani Kai.
For sushi, I'd go to Ushiwakamaru, reservations recommended.
Here's more takeout-type options, focused towards lunch:
If you can walk to the West Village, you could get a sandwich from Murray's or Faicco's, pizza from Keste, or takeout from Pearl Oyster Bar. I wonder if 'ino or Blue Ribbon Bakery might do takeout as well.
