OK, I have been to Pancho Villas, Marinatas, Joes Taco lounge and I can't find a decent Chile Relleno in Marin. Anyone?

Try Chevy's in Novato and Celia's in San Rafael.

Las Camelias, San Rafael. The usual fresh green chili stuffed with cheese, dipped in batter, fried and served with red sauce is listed under combination plates on the lunch and dinner menu. In addition, the dinner menu has an option listed in the appetizer section that features a vegetable filling, sour cream and tomato sauce.

Do they make them to order or are they steam table fare? I have not tried (obviously) but last week I had a chile cheese tamale from a temporary table set up inside by the doors. Masa was good, a little greasy, but the cheese was hard and rubbery - at first I thought it was chicken! Green salsa was terrific.

They are on they right hand fork of the food line and appear to be steam table.
Don't you just love the place link. Masa's indeed.

Thanks for the eagle eye - I didn't even notice the self attaching link. Hopefully gone now.

Taqueria San Jose's chile rellenos have improved over the years. They certainly can be described as decent. They come with a light tomato sauce and lettuce on the side. I get the combination with rice and beans. You can't beat the price. Just get two chiles rellenos as their tacos suck. They put them in the same container on top of the other food so they get soggy. that said, I usually get a carnitas taco for my dog as part of the combination.Once they wrapped and bagged separately.
